YETI | 2018 + 2019 Festival Activation
Single Use 16oz Plastic Bottles Saved
Ounces of Water Served
“Built for the Wild” isn’t simply a tagline for our client YETI, it’s a way of life. As a company, YETI is firmly committed to helping consumers get into the wild while remaining active stewards for conservation and responsible management of our environment.
Today, far too many plastic bottles end up in our rivers, lakes and oceans, wreaking havoc on our ecosystems. In an effort to spread the message to ‘Kick Plastic’ by limiting the quantity of single use water bottles that dot the festival landscape, YETI took their Kick Plastic initiative across the country to 22 outdoor, lifestyle, music, and BBQ festivals including the GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, CO, Highwater Festival in Charleston, SC, and the Volcom Pipe Pro in Oahu, HI, throughout 2018 and 2019.
Our team at G7 designed, fabricated, and activated YETI’s self-service Hydration Stations that dispensed free, cold, filtered water to hot, thirsty festival goers. Through a combination of water cooling mechanisms, water pumps, and an industrial filtration system, all housed within the unit, this system gave us the flexibility to filter direct water lines or store water in our 300 gallon tank for deployment at more remote high-traffic festival locations.
Throughout the two year program, these 300-gallon custom water silos satisfied 141,000 people while eliminating the waste of over 260,000 16oz. disposable plastic water bottles. For consumers who did not have a reusable water bottle on hand to refill and “kick the habit” of single use plastic water bottles, the YETI retail display tents within our footprint provided an opportunity for consumers to pick up a YETI Rambler, or two, and shop an assortment of YETI branded drinkware, coolers, and accessories.
Festival goers (21+) who purchased a YETI Rambler and committed to kicking their plastic habit were rewarded with a drink token as a thank you from YETI. At select festivals, including Outside Lands, custom co-branded YETI drinkware was produced featuring festival branding and was made available for purchase as official event merchandise across the festival’s multiple retail locations, allowing YETI to spread awareness of the campaign to the entire festival audience.
In 2019, consumers were able to hang out in the YETI footprint checking out the festival scene from the comfort of Hondo Base Camp Chairs, and for those that wanted to showcase their competitive spirit, a custom YETI branded "Shoot the Moon" game challenged consumers to test their hand-eye coordination in order to successfully land the ball into one of YETI's Ramblers custom fabricated into the game design.
